COOPERATION WITH THE MPIB-PROJECT “ANDERS FüHLEN”

The project team behind Media Amateurs in Gay Culture cooperates with colleagues from the project anders fühlen, part of the Research Center for the History of Emotions, which is headed by Prof. Dr. Ute Frevert at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development (MPIB) in Berlin. The project addresses everyday emotional experiences from a historical perspective. On the basis of 32 oral history interviews and other sources, the study reconstructs the emotional life of lesbians and gays who have lived in villages or small towns. The project focuses on two aspects of same-sex relationships that have been neglected by the research carried out to date: the rural environment and the emotional lives of gays and lesbians in this specific context. The project staff members are Karola Rockmann, Hilke Rusch, Luzi Malik, Karin Bengtson and Benno Gammerl.
